Giving Something Back

Donations we receive vary wildly and we appreciate them all. We wish to reward our supporters as much as possible and have started our gift system with this treasure we produce ourselves!

The Silver Sandstone

Our coordinator, tells this story:

"Some years ago I acquired some sands from the Holy Lands through an anthropology student who was studying in the ancient biblical area.

When I felt the sands flow through my fingers, a certain calmness came over me.  My family and friends experienced a similar experience.

Months later I befriended a jeweler I met at a market and we arranged to have coffee together.  The following week he suggested designing a piece of jewelry that would encase the sands and allow individuals to rub the sands and feel this experience that others had expressed to me.

He also suggested that the sands surround a cross to identify the awareness of our faith.

We worked for months to design a casting by hand, enabling the sands and a silver cross to remain exposed for the tactile sensations sought.

The finished product was pleasing, and the design and method have not changed.  We had no debate or doubt and dubbed the completed creation as the Silver Sandstone.

After casting a hundred finished, polished Silver Sandstones, we unveiled the creations at a church bazaar and were promptly overcome by the response.

It seemed everyone that viewed the Sandstone had positive things to say!

It was not until the bazaar was over and we were driving away that we came to understand everybody who had touched the Sandstone, wanted to own one or more for themselves."
